The pharmaceutical sector reacts actively to the Ukrainian crisis in Europe

Medicines New Zealand stands in solidarity with our sister associations and their member companies in Europe to support the industry’s efforts to help the people of Ukraine.

The innovative medicines sector actively collaborates with many other partners and provides significant humanitarian support both in Ukraine and for the emerging refugee crisis in neighboring EU Member States.

“So far, support has included large in-kind donations of essential medicines and vaccines to Ukraine and surrounding countries to help Ukrainian refugees. There has also been financial support from the innovative medicines sector, with more than $45 million committed to international aid organizations such as the Red Cross, International Medical Corps and the United Nations Refugee Agency. said Dr Graeme Jarvis, CEO of Medicines New Zealand.

The innovative medicines sector will also continue to do everything in its power to ensure that medicines reach the patients who need them, not only in Ukraine, but also in neighboring EU Member States. This is achieved by working in conjunction with a range of international aid and humanitarian agencies.

“As an industry dedicated to both rescuing and improving lives, we are concerned about the humanitarian crisis facing Eastern Europe and hope that a peaceful resolution will soon be achieved,” says Dr Jarvis.
